About this course

Mental health nursing is concerned with supporting people through some of the most difficult experiences of their lives, from acute mental health crises to the long-term recovery journey that many people with serious mental illness undertake. Mental health nurses work in hospitals, crisis teams, community mental health services, forensic units, substance misuse services, eating disorder units and primary care, providing care that combines clinical assessment, therapeutic relationships, medicines management, risk management and advocacy. The role requires both scientific knowledge and exceptional interpersonal sensitivity.
