FDA Aviation, Travel and Tourism
About this course
Aviation, travel, and tourism is the study of one of the world's most complex and globally significant industries. The aviation sector connects billions of people across the planet, enabling international trade, tourism, diplomacy, and the movement of goods and people on a scale that would have been unimaginable a century ago. Tourism is the world's largest industry by some measures, and it is intricately dependent on a reliable, well-managed aviation network. Understanding how these industries function, how they are planned and regulated, and what challenges they face requires a combination of operational knowledge, business understanding, and global perspective. At Teesside this two-year full-time degree takes you through the history and development of the aviation industry, examining its growth from modest beginnings to a global enterprise of extraordinary scale and complexity. You will study airport operations, airline management, passenger services, route planning, safety, communication systems, and the relationship between aviation and international tourism. The accelerated two-year structure allows you to complete the degree more quickly than on a conventional programme, entering the industry sooner and with a qualification specifically tailored to its demands. Graduates go on to careers in airport management, airline operations, ground handling, travel management, tourism planning, hospitality, and a wide range of supporting roles in logistics, safety, and customer service. The aviation and tourism sector offers a genuinely international working life, with roles available across the world. The business and operational understanding you develop is also relevant to graduate roles in logistics, event management, and the broader hospitality sector. Many graduates pursue professional development qualifications in aviation, tourism, or related areas after completing the degree.
