About this course

Biology is the study of life in all its forms, from the molecular mechanisms operating within a single cell to the ecological networks that connect millions of species across an entire planet. It is a discipline of extraordinary breadth, incorporating genetics, biochemistry, cell biology, physiology, evolution and ecology, and it underpins fields as diverse as medicine, conservation, agriculture, biotechnology and environmental science. What unites all of biology is the attempt to understand living systems: how they are built, how they function, how they change, and how they relate to one another. At the University of Suffolk, you can study biology on a part-time basis, which makes the programme accessible to students who are managing work, caring responsibilities or other commitments alongside their studies. You will build understanding across the core areas of the discipline, covering cell biology, microbiology, genetics, animal and plant biology, ecology and environmental science.
