BSc Business and Finance
About this course
Business and finance is a degree that equips you to understand the commercial and financial dimensions of organisations simultaneously. Business strategy, management and operations form one strand; financial analysis, investment, accounting and the principles of corporate finance form another. Together they produce a graduate who can think about organisations at the level of both strategic purpose and financial reality, which is a combination that employers in many sectors value highly. At Coventry University, you will develop the core skills in finance and business strategy needed to pursue a rewarding career in finance, consulting, business management and related areas. The programme is three years full time, and it includes both a sandwich year in industry and a year abroad, along with integrated work placement opportunities. This combination of structural features is unusually rich: the sandwich year gives you a full year of professional experience before your final year, the year abroad broadens your international perspective, and the placements build real-world context into the academic content throughout. The typical entry tariff is 104 points. You will study financial accounting, management accounting, corporate finance, investment analysis and business strategy alongside topics in operations, marketing, organisational behaviour and leadership. The combination develops both quantitative fluency and the broader commercial understanding that business roles require. Graduates from business and finance programmes move into careers in financial services, investment banking, management consultancy, corporate finance, accounting, insurance, retail banking, business analysis and general management. The year in industry is particularly valued by employers, and many Coventry students return to their placement organisation as graduates. Further study at postgraduate level in finance, business, or economics is another natural route, and some graduates pursue professional qualifications in accountancy or financial analysis alongside their careers.
