BA Business and Marketing Management
About this course
Business and marketing management together address two of the most fundamental questions an organisation faces: how to run effectively and how to connect with the people it wants to reach. Marketing is the discipline of understanding customers, building brands, and communicating value. Business management provides the strategic, financial, and operational context within which marketing decisions are made. Studying both gives you the commercial breadth to operate confidently across an organisation and the specialist marketing knowledge that the discipline demands. At the University of Sunderland this four-year, full-time programme includes a foundation year, providing a supported entry into degree-level study for students who want additional preparation before the main curriculum. The programme is internationally recognised and accredited, with strong industry links built in throughout. A specialist Marketing Hub, exciting placements, and insights from expert guest speakers give the learning a practical grounding that goes beyond the classroom. A sandwich year, a year abroad, and work placement opportunities are all incorporated, giving you substantial professional experience and international exposure alongside your academic formation. Graduates move into careers across the full breadth of the business and marketing world. Many enter marketing management, brand management, digital marketing, content and social media, public relations, and communications roles in companies ranging from consumer goods businesses and agencies to charities, public sector organisations, and digital platforms. Others build careers in business development, account management, commercial management, or consulting, using the business management dimension of their degree to move into roles that require both marketing knowledge and broader commercial acumen. Further study at Masters level in marketing, business administration, or a specialist discipline is also available. The programme's international recognition and placement opportunities make it well suited to students with ambitions to work in global markets or for international organisations.
