MA Business Management and French
About this course
Business management and French is a combination that prepares you for a career with a genuinely international dimension, equipping you with the commercial and organisational skills that business demands and the linguistic and cultural competence to operate effectively in French-speaking markets and institutions. French is spoken by around 300 million people worldwide and is an official language of numerous international organisations and a major language of diplomacy, business, and culture across Europe and Africa. Pairing it with business management creates a degree that is both practically grounded and internationally aware. At the University of Aberdeen this four-year full-time programme develops your French language skills to a high level alongside a solid grounding in business management theory and practice. You will study management, marketing, finance, economics, and organisational behaviour while building your French language abilities across reading, writing, speaking, and listening in professional and literary registers. A year abroad is a central feature of the programme, giving you an extended period in a French-speaking country where you can deepen your fluency and develop the cultural understanding that classroom learning alone cannot provide. Graduates from business management and French are well placed for careers in international organisations, European and multinational companies, the diplomatic service, consultancy, trade, and development bodies that work across Francophone regions. The combination is particularly well suited to roles that require communication across cultures and languages, including international business development, marketing in European or African markets, and work in EU or UN institutions. Many graduates also continue to postgraduate study in business, international management, or languages, or pursue professional qualifications in areas such as management or international trade.
