BA Business Management and Marketing
About this course
Business management and marketing is a joint degree that brings together two disciplines that are deeply intertwined in professional practice. Business management provides the analytical and organisational frameworks for understanding how firms operate, make decisions, and create value, covering strategy, finance, operations, human resources and the full range of management disciplines. Marketing provides the discipline concerned with understanding customers, developing products and services, and communicating value in ways that build recognition, loyalty, and sustainable competitive advantage. Together they produce graduates who are commercially rounded and professionally ready. At the University of Chichester you will study this three-year programme, developing your skills and experience in both fields in a way that prepares you for creative and successful careers. The programme includes a sandwich year and a work placement, giving you substantial professional experience before you graduate. You will engage with business strategy, financial management, organisational behaviour and operations alongside consumer behaviour, brand management, digital marketing, market research and communications, building a dual competence that is valued by employers across a very wide range of organisations. Graduates of business management and marketing enter careers in marketing management, brand development, digital marketing, market research and consumer insights, commercial management, product management, business development, public relations, and general management roles in companies of all sizes across every sector. The combination of business acumen and marketing skill is particularly valuable in smaller organisations, where a manager who can think across functions is more effective than a specialist. Entrepreneurship is another natural path for graduates whose commercial awareness and marketing knowledge give them the confidence to build their own ventures. Postgraduate study in marketing, business, or consumer behaviour is an option for those who wish to specialise or develop further.
