BA Business Management and Marketing
About this course
Business management and marketing are closely related disciplines that, studied together, give you a thorough understanding of how organisations operate and how they communicate with and attract the customers, clients, or audiences they serve. Management provides the analytical and operational frameworks for understanding how businesses make decisions, allocate resources, and develop strategy. Marketing examines how organisations understand their markets, develop and position products and services, build brands, and communicate across an increasingly complex landscape of digital and traditional channels. Together they prepare you for a wide range of commercial and strategic roles. At the University of the West of England in Bristol, this three-year full-time degree provides a solid business foundation with a marketing focus, allowing you to develop expertise that is directly relevant to both general management and specialist marketing careers. You will study business strategy, finance, operations, organisational behaviour, and leadership alongside modules in consumer behaviour, brand management, digital marketing, market research, and integrated communications. A placement or work experience year is built into the programme, giving you direct professional experience before you graduate. A year abroad is also available, broadening your perspective and giving you experience of business and marketing in an international context. You will develop commercial awareness, analytical skills, and the creative and strategic thinking that effective marketing demands. The combination of management and marketing gives you the flexibility to move between generalist and specialist roles as your career develops. Graduates work in brand and product management, digital marketing, market research, account management, advertising, public relations, and general management across a wide range of sectors including consumer goods, technology, retail, media, financial services, and the public sector. Postgraduate study in marketing, business administration, or a specialist marketing discipline is an option for those who want to deepen their expertise or move into senior roles.
