MA Business Management and Spanish & Latin American Studies
About this course
Business management and Spanish and Latin American studies is a combination that provides both the commercial skills to work effectively in organisations and the language competence and cultural knowledge to operate in one of the world's most economically significant and culturally rich regions. Spanish is the world's second most spoken native language, with around 500 million speakers across Spain, Latin America and a growing community in the United States. Latin America encompasses some of the world's most dynamic and rapidly developing economies, and understanding the cultures, histories and business environments of the region is a genuine commercial advantage. At the University of Aberdeen, this five-year full-time programme provides a firm foundation in business, organisations and management alongside high-level proficiency in Spanish and a deep engagement with Latin American and Spanish-speaking cultures and societies. You will develop skills across business strategy, marketing, finance, human resource management and organisational behaviour, while also building your Spanish to a level that allows you to communicate fluently and work effectively in Spanish-speaking environments. The programme provides the competitive advantage of a modern European and global language that is in consistent demand from multinational employers. With a typical entry tariff of 200 UCAS points, this is a demanding and prestigious programme. Graduates from business management with Spanish and Latin American studies are highly attractive to employers across international business, NGOs, the diplomatic service, financial services, marketing and consulting. The combination of business management skills and Spanish language competence is particularly valued in organisations with operations or clients in Latin America, Spain and the United States. Postgraduate study in international business, Latin American studies or management is a natural next step for those who want to develop further.
