BSc Business Management (International Management)
About this course
Business management with an international management focus examines how organisations operate, compete and are led, with particular attention to the challenges and opportunities that arise when business crosses national borders. International management draws on strategy, organisational theory, cross-cultural management, international finance and global operations to understand how firms navigate the additional complexity of operating in multiple countries with different regulatory, economic and cultural environments. Cardiff University's four-year full-time programme develops core business management competencies alongside a sustained engagement with the international dimensions of management practice. The content covers strategy, marketing, finance, operations and organisational behaviour as foundations, with the international management specialism introducing frameworks for understanding cross-cultural management, the strategy of multinational enterprises, international trade and investment, global supply chains and the management of people in diverse and geographically dispersed organisations. Cardiff's location as the Welsh capital and business hub, together with the university's own international reach, provides a stimulating context for exploring these themes. The degree develops analytical thinking, the ability to apply management frameworks to complex real-world situations, an understanding of how cultural and institutional differences shape business behaviour, and the communication and teamwork skills that management roles demand. The international focus also cultivates a more outward-looking perspective, preparing you for roles in organisations whose operations, customers and partners are genuinely global. Graduates move into management roles across a very wide range of sectors, with international management-focused graduates particularly well placed for positions in multinational companies, international consultancies, export-oriented businesses, international trade bodies, the diplomatic and civil service and global NGOs. Postgraduate study in international business, MBA programmes or specialist management fields is a natural progression for those wishing to develop further or move into senior roles.
