BA Business Management with Accounting (with Study Abroad)
About this course
Business management and accounting is a pairing that equips you to understand organisations from the inside and to make the financial judgements that keep them viable and growing. Management gives you the frameworks for understanding strategy, leadership, marketing, operations, and the human dimensions of organisational life. Accounting gives you the technical knowledge to read and produce financial information, to evaluate commercial decisions, and to understand the regulatory and governance frameworks within which businesses operate. Together, they develop a genuinely rounded business education. At the University of Hull, this four-year full-time programme includes a study abroad element, giving you the opportunity to spend time at a partner institution in another country. This international dimension broadens your perspective on business and accounting practice, exposing you to different regulatory environments, business cultures, and approaches to commercial decision-making. You will develop an insider's view of how businesses operate from an accounting perspective, gaining hands-on understanding of how financial information is generated, interpreted, and used to inform strategic choices. The programme develops both your technical skills in areas such as financial reporting, management accounting, and taxation, and your broader management capabilities in leadership, strategy, and commercial thinking. Graduates from business management and accounting programmes are well-placed to pursue careers in accountancy, financial management, business analysis, and consultancy. Many go on to professional accounting qualifications, building towards chartered status in areas such as management accounting, financial accounting, or tax. Others move into general management, operations, finance roles in industry, the public sector, or the charity sector. Postgraduate study in accounting, finance, or business administration is another route for those who wish to specialise further or pursue academic careers.
