BSc Business Management With Foundation Year
About this course
Business management is the study of how organisations are created, led, structured and sustained, drawing on economics, strategy, finance, marketing, operations and organisational behaviour to understand what makes enterprises work effectively. It is a discipline that prepares you to engage with the full complexity of organisational life, developing analytical and leadership capabilities alongside the domain knowledge needed to contribute to commercial, public sector and not-for-profit organisations across virtually every sector. At Edge Hill University this four-year, full-time programme includes a foundation year that provides a structured route into degree-level business study for those who would benefit from additional academic preparation. The foundation year develops the key transferable skills and subject knowledge you will need to engage confidently with the full honours content that follows, and it opens the door to a range of honours degree programmes in business, management and related subjects at Edge Hill. You will then progress through the main degree, studying strategy, finance, marketing, human resource management, operations, entrepreneurship and the changing business environment, developing the analytical and practical skills that employers in business and management consistently demand. Business management graduates pursue careers across virtually every sector, including management, consultancy, marketing, finance, human resources, operations and entrepreneurship. Graduate training schemes at major companies, the civil service fast stream, roles in technology companies and start-up ventures are all well-trodden routes for graduates of this degree. Many also continue to postgraduate study in business administration, finance, marketing or related fields, building on the undergraduate foundation to develop specialist expertise and professional credentials.
