BA Business Management with Marketing (with Placement Year)
About this course
Business management and marketing are disciplines that sit at the core of how organisations operate and grow. Management is concerned with how people, processes and resources are organised and led; marketing is concerned with understanding markets, customers and competitors, and with communicating value in ways that build demand. Together they form a practical and analytical education in commercial life, preparing you to think strategically about organisations and to execute plans that connect businesses to the people they serve. At the University of Hull this four-year full-time programme includes a placement year, giving you the opportunity to spend a substantial period working within a business before you return to complete your studies. That placement experience is central to the degree, turning theoretical knowledge into practical understanding and building the professional network and confidence that employers value. Across the programme you will develop skills in business strategy, operations, finance, human resource management, consumer behaviour, brand management, digital marketing, market research, and data analysis. The curriculum is designed to develop both analytical rigour and the ability to make sound decisions in conditions of real commercial complexity. Graduates of business management with marketing enter careers across almost every sector of the economy. Roles in brand management, digital and content marketing, market research, product management, business development, and commercial management are direct applications of the degree. The broader management training opens doors in operations, human resources, consultancy, the civil service, entrepreneurship, and leadership roles across the private, public and voluntary sectors. Many graduates use the placement year to secure graduate roles with their placement organisation. Others continue to postgraduate study in business, marketing, or a specialist management discipline such as supply chain or international business.
