BSc Business Management with Placement
About this course
Business management is the study of how organisations are led, structured, and run. It draws on economics, psychology, sociology, and strategy to explain how decisions get made, how teams and resources are coordinated, and how firms compete and adapt in changing environments. A management degree develops both the analytical rigour needed to understand complex business problems and the practical skills required to address them. At Queen's University Belfast, this four-year full-time programme covers the full spectrum of contemporary management, from leveraging technology and leading diverse teams to driving innovation, managing change, and making strategic use of markets and resources. You will develop analytical and leadership capabilities alongside strong skills in communication, collaboration, and problem-solving. A defining feature of the degree is the integrated placement year, in which you spend a substantial period working within a real business environment. This experience is invaluable: it allows you to apply what you have learned in an authentic professional context, build your network, and develop the confidence and commercial awareness that employers consistently look for. The typical entry tariff is 152 UCAS points. Graduates of business management programmes are among the most employable in the UK. The degree opens doors in virtually every sector, including financial services, consulting, retail, technology, media, public sector management, and entrepreneurship. Many graduates join graduate training schemes with major employers, while others go directly into specialist roles or launch their own ventures. Postgraduate study in business, including MBA programmes, is also a natural progression, particularly for those who want to develop their expertise in a specific area such as marketing, finance, human resources, or supply chain management. The placement year gives Queen's graduates a head start in building the professional track record that employers value.
