BA Creative Industries Business Management and Musical Theatre
About this course
Creative industries business management combined with musical theatre prepares you to work where the discipline and artistry of performance meet the commercial and organisational realities of the stage. Musical theatre is one of the most enduringly popular and economically significant forms of live performance, encompassing singing, dancing, and acting in productions that range from small studio pieces to West End and Broadway spectaculars. Understanding how this world works, how shows are financed, produced, marketed, and managed alongside developing your own practice as a performer, gives you a distinctive double capability. Liverpool Hope University's three-year full-time programme includes a sandwich year, a year abroad, and professional work placement experience, providing substantial real-world engagement alongside your academic and practical training. The placement and work experience expose you to the performing arts industry and arts management sector, while the year abroad broadens your cultural perspective on musical theatre, a form with roots in American and British tradition but increasingly global in character. You will study musical theatre performance, voice, movement, and acting alongside business strategy, event and production management, marketing, finance, and arts administration. The programme develops both your stage capability and your professional organisational skills. Graduates from this programme go on to work as performers, stage managers, production coordinators, arts administrators, casting coordinators, musical theatre teachers, creative producers, and outreach practitioners. The combination of performance training and business knowledge is valued by organisations in the performing arts who need people who understand both sides of the industry. Many graduates pursue further training in performance or arts management, and some establish their own performance or production companies.
