About this course
Dentistry is the healthcare profession dedicated to the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases and conditions affecting the mouth, teeth, gums, and associated structures. Dentists play a vital role in patients' overall health: oral health is intimately connected to systemic health, and dentists are often the first to detect signs of conditions ranging from nutritional deficiencies and diabetes to oral cancer. This five-year full-time degree at Queen Mary University of London's Institute of Dentistry is built on an innovative curriculum that equips you with the academic, clinical, professional, and personal skills needed to practise as a dental professional. You will develop across the full scope of dentistry, covering the prevention and treatment of dental diseases, the care of the mouth and its tissues, screening for oral cancers, the management of dental trauma, orthodontics, and oral surgery.
