Economics is the social science that asks how individuals, organisations, and governments make decisions about scarce resources, and what the consequences of those decisions are for markets, societies, and the distribution of wealth and opportunity. It provides analytical tools to understand why prices rise and fall, why some countries grow richer while others stagnate, how monetary and fiscal policy affects employment and inflation, and how incentives shape behaviour in both obvious and subtle ways. These are questions that matter deeply to everyone, and the discipline that addresses them rigorously is one of the most valuable you can study. The University of Buckingham's two-year fast-track economics programme is designed to give you the full analytical toolkit and knowledge of a conventional economics degree in a compressed timeframe. You will develop the economic reasoning, quantitative skills, and understanding of markets and institutions that allow you to think clearly about complex issues affecting governments, companies, and individuals alike. The two-year structure, which includes year-round study, allows you to enter the graduate labour market or continue to postgraduate study a year earlier than students on conventional programmes.
