Electronics and computer engineering sits at the convergence of two disciplines that together underpin virtually all of modern technology. Electronics is concerned with the behaviour of electrons in circuits, devices, and systems, from individual transistors to complex integrated circuits, communications systems, and signal processing hardware. Computer engineering applies engineering principles to the design of computing systems, from processor architecture and embedded control systems through to operating systems, real-time software, and the hardware-software interface. Together they address both the physical substrate of computing and the software that gives it meaning, producing engineers who can work across both layers.
