At the University of York, this four-year full-time programme opens with a foundation year specifically designed for those returning to education, or who did not study mathematics at A level, to update the mathematical and physics knowledge needed to progress onto one of York's engineering degrees. The foundation year is a genuine preparation, not a detour, giving you the grounding to succeed in engineering study at degree level. York's engineering school has strong research and industry connections, and the degree that follows the foundation year develops the analytical and practical capabilities that engineering careers demand. You will study the fundamental principles of engineering across mathematics, physics, and technical design, progressing to specialist engineering modules as the degree advances.
