BSc Enterprise and Innovation
About this course
Enterprise and innovation sit at the heart of how economies renew themselves, how organisations survive disruption, and how new ideas become products, services, and businesses that create value. The study of entrepreneurship and innovation examines the process by which new ventures are created and scaled, how established organisations can develop the capacity to innovate continuously, and how creativity and risk-taking interact with management, technology, and market forces. At Birkbeck this part-time programme is designed for students who want to develop cutting-edge skills in business, technology, creativity, and leadership, and who want to be equipped to lead innovation and digital transformation in organisations of various kinds. The programme takes entrepreneurship and innovation as its focus while providing a grounding in the key functions of business, ensuring you understand where and how the management of people, processes, and resources contributes to business success. Birkbeck's part-time model is designed for students who are already in work or who have other commitments alongside their studies, making it possible to develop these skills while continuing to build professional experience. You will develop an understanding of how to spot and evaluate opportunities, how to build and lead teams capable of innovation, how to manage the strategic and operational dimensions of new ventures and innovation projects, and how to engage with digital technologies as both enablers and subjects of business transformation. Graduates move into roles in entrepreneurship, innovation management, product development, digital transformation, start-up founding, intrapreneurship within established organisations, consulting, and a wide range of other roles where the ability to think creatively and lead change is valued. Postgraduate study in entrepreneurship, innovation, or business is an option for those who wish to develop further expertise.
