BA Fashion, Brand and Communication
About this course
Fashion, brand and communication sits at the intersection of the fashion industry and the marketing and communications disciplines through which fashion identities are constructed and projected. Fashion brands do not succeed simply because they make good clothes: they succeed because they build narratives, values and visual identities that resonate with particular audiences and that are communicated consistently across every point of contact, from advertising and social media to retail environments and influencer partnerships. This degree prepares you to contribute to that work at a strategic and creative level. At Coventry University, the three-year full-time degree develops your understanding of fashion branding, visual communication, marketing strategy and the creative and critical thinking needed to work in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving industry. You will study fashion history and theory, brand strategy, content creation, digital marketing, consumer behaviour and the visual language of fashion communication, developing both the conceptual skills to think strategically and the practical skills to produce compelling communication across different formats. The degree includes a sandwich year, a year abroad and a work placement, giving you direct professional experience and international perspectives in the global fashion industry before graduation. Coventry's location in the West Midlands gives access to Birmingham's fashion and retail sector, and the degree is designed with employability in mind, encouraging innovation and critical thinking rather than passive consumption of industry conventions. Graduates work in fashion marketing and communications, brand management, PR, content creation, social media management, fashion journalism, buying, retail management and fashion consultancy. Postgraduate study in fashion business, luxury brand management or marketing is a natural continuation for those who want to develop specialist expertise.
