BA Fashion Communication and Content
About this course
Fashion communication and content sits at the intersection of the fashion industry and the media and communications industries that shape how fashion reaches its audiences. Fashion communicators understand the visual language of fashion, the industry's commercial dynamics, and the full range of platforms, from print editorial and advertising through to social media, film, and digital content, through which fashion brands and ideas are expressed and distributed. The field demands both creative vision and the ability to produce content that is strategically effective across a rapidly evolving media landscape. At Leeds Beckett University, this three-year programme is informed and delivered by people from all areas of the fashion industry, and you will work on live briefs set by real clients, developing the professional skills and commercial awareness that the industry demands. The programme includes a sandwich placement year and embedded work placement opportunities, with the option to complete a year in industry that provides invaluable real-world experience of fashion communication and content. These placements allow you to build professional experience and industry contacts while helping you clarify what you want to achieve after graduation. A year abroad is also part of the programme, broadening your international perspective on fashion and media. Graduates from fashion communication and content programmes work as content creators, social media managers, fashion editors and stylists, PR and communications executives, brand strategists, creative directors, and digital marketing specialists within fashion and lifestyle brands, agencies, and media organisations. The combination of creative and strategic skills the degree develops is valuable across the fashion industry and in the broader creative and media economy. Further study at postgraduate level in fashion communication, fashion marketing, or journalism is an option for those who want to specialise.
