About this course

Film production is the discipline of making films, from conception and scripting through shooting and editing to the final work that reaches an audience. It is a collaborative, technically demanding, and creatively rigorous practice that requires both artistic vision and the practical ability to bring that vision to screen. A year abroad is available, giving you the opportunity to experience film production and film culture in a different national context and to expand your creative perspective. The programme draws on Sunderland's facilities and its connections to the screen industries of the North East, a region with a growing production footprint. Graduates from film production programmes pursue careers as directors, cinematographers, editors, sound designers, producers, and production managers, typically beginning in entry-level roles on film, television, or digital media productions. Others move into adjacent creative roles in advertising, music video, corporate communications, and digital content.
