BA Film TV Radio & Media Production (With Foundation Year)
About this course
Film, television, radio and media production sits at the heart of how contemporary culture is made and distributed. From broadcast journalism to independent documentary, from podcast series to streaming drama, the skills involved in conceiving, recording, editing and distributing media content are in demand across a production landscape that is growing in volume and diversity. Understanding these crafts at a professional level requires both technical competence and a strong sense of narrative, audience and purpose. At Liverpool Hope, this four-year programme covers the full range of production disciplines across film, television, radio and digital media. You will develop practical skills in camera work, sound recording, editing, directing and scriptwriting, working with industry-standard equipment and software throughout. Alongside production practice, you will study the critical and theoretical frameworks that help you understand media as a cultural and social force. The programme includes a sandwich year, giving you the opportunity to work in a professional production environment, and it also incorporates a year abroad, which broadens your cultural perspective and gives you experience of media industries in another country. Work placement experience is embedded in the course, further strengthening your professional readiness. The typical entry tariff is 72 UCAS points. Graduates work across broadcast television and radio, online media production, corporate video, documentary filmmaking, podcast production and digital content creation. Production roles including directing, editing, producing, sound design and camera operation are common pathways, as are roles in media management, commissioning and distribution. Many graduates also move into roles in digital marketing, social media production, and communications, where media production skills are increasingly valued.
