BSc International Business with a Foundation Year
About this course
International business addresses the specific challenges and opportunities of managing organisations that operate across national borders. Where domestic business management can focus on a single market and regulatory environment, international business requires understanding how companies enter and compete in foreign markets, how they manage supply chains that span multiple countries, how cultural differences affect management and consumer behaviour, how exchange rates and political risk shape commercial decisions, and how international trade and investment are governed. These are some of the most important and complex questions in contemporary management. This four-year, full-time programme at the University of Kent includes a foundation year that provides additional preparation for those who need it before entering the main degree content. Kent's location close to the Channel and its strong European connections give it a particularly good basis for international business education, and the programme is designed with an understanding of how genuinely global the commercial environment has become. You will study management, marketing, finance, operations, international trade, cross-cultural management, and the strategic dimensions of operating across different markets and institutional environments. Graduates are well placed for careers in international business roles across a wide range of sectors, including multinational companies, financial services, international consulting, trade and logistics, and export-focused businesses. The foundation year means the programme is accessible to students who need additional academic preparation, and the degree's international orientation is reflected in the practical and global awareness graduates develop. Many graduates also pursue professional qualifications in management, marketing, or logistics alongside or after their degree. Further study in international business, management, or an MBA with international focus is a natural extension for those who wish to develop senior leadership expertise.
