BSc International Business with French
About this course
International business with French is a combination that addresses one of the most practical challenges of working in a global economy: understanding how business operates across national and cultural boundaries, and being able to do so in more than one language. French is one of the world's most widely spoken languages, used in business, diplomacy and culture across Europe, Africa, the Americas and beyond, and fluency in French is a genuine professional asset in international commerce, law, the public sector and many other fields. At the University of Dundee, this four-year full-time programme develops your understanding of international business theory and practice alongside your French language skills. You will study how multinational organisations function, how international markets are structured, the legal, regulatory and cultural environments that shape cross-border trade, and the strategic decisions that determine competitive success in a global context. The language component develops your French across all registers, from professional communication to cultural and literary understanding, and a year abroad is built into the programme, giving you the extended immersive experience in a French-speaking environment that is essential for developing real language fluency. You will learn to think analytically about business situations from an international perspective, to navigate cultural difference with confidence, and to communicate effectively in English and French across a range of professional contexts. Research, critical thinking and the ability to apply theory to real business problems are emphasised throughout. Graduates from international business with French programmes move into roles in multinational corporations, international trade, consultancy, banking and finance, diplomacy, law, marketing, management, and the cultural and creative industries. The combination of commercial knowledge and genuine linguistic competence in French opens career doors that are closed to monolingual graduates, and postgraduate study in international business, law, languages or management is a natural next step.
