BSc International Business with Portuguese
About this course
International business with Portuguese combines the strategic and analytical competencies of a business degree with the linguistic and cultural intelligence that Portuguese fluency provides. Portuguese is spoken by over two hundred million people worldwide, making it one of the most commercially significant languages globally, with major economies in Brazil, Portugal, and Mozambique all presenting substantial opportunities for internationally minded business professionals. All organisations now operate in a competitive global arena, seeking to expand and develop beyond their national borders, and success in foreign markets requires cultural intelligence as much as business knowledge. The four-year full-time programme at Queen's University of Belfast is designed to develop graduates with a global mindset who have the necessary business and cultural skills to work in the global marketplace. You will study the fundamental theories and practices of international business alongside progressive development of your Portuguese language skills, covering both Brazilian Portuguese and European Portuguese contexts and the cultural dimensions of each. The programme recognises that global leaders cultivate cultural intelligence by immersing themselves in different cultures, applying both business knowledge and language skills in authentic contexts. You will develop this through your language studies, cultural engagement, and the commercial knowledge that allows you to understand local customers, regulations, and market conditions in Portuguese-speaking environments. With a typical entry tariff of 152 points, the programme attracts students with genuine linguistic ambition alongside business curiosity. Graduates are well placed for careers in multinational corporations, international trade, consulting, financial services, and NGOs operating in Portuguese-speaking markets, as well as in diplomatic and cultural roles. Postgraduate study in business, languages, or international relations is also a common continuation.
