MA International Business with Spanish
About this course
International business is the study of how commercial organisations operate across national borders, navigating different regulatory environments, cultural contexts, legal systems and market conditions. It asks why some businesses succeed in international markets and others do not, how multinational strategies are developed and implemented, and how the global economic environment shapes the decisions of firms, governments and individuals. Combining this with Spanish at the University of Edinburgh gives you a degree that develops both rigorous business understanding and high-level competence in one of the world's most commercially significant languages. This four-year full-time programme develops your understanding of international business management, strategy, finance, marketing, cross-cultural management and the economics of international trade, alongside your Spanish language skills across reading, writing, speaking and listening to an advanced professional standard. You will engage with the commercial and cultural realities of Spanish-speaking markets across Europe and Latin America, developing the cultural intelligence that effective international business demands alongside the analytical and strategic capabilities of a management education. Graduates are well positioned for careers in multinational companies, financial services, professional services firms, international trade organisations and government departments with international responsibilities. Spanish is the working language of important markets across two continents, and graduates who combine business expertise with genuine Spanish proficiency are sought after by organisations that operate in or with those markets. Many graduates join graduate training schemes with major international companies, while others build careers in consulting, banking, marketing or entrepreneurship. Further study in international business, management, economics or Hispanic studies is also a natural pathway.
