BA International Relations with Business Management
About this course
International relations and business management are disciplines that look at the world from different but complementary perspectives. International relations examines the political, security, and governance dimensions of how states and other actors interact across borders, providing frameworks for understanding conflict, diplomacy, globalisation, and the institutions that try to manage international life. Business management focuses on how organisations are led, how markets function, and how strategy, finance, marketing, and human resources determine whether enterprises succeed or fail. Together they produce graduates equipped to understand and operate in an interconnected world where political and commercial considerations are rarely separable. At Queen Mary University of London this four-year full-time programme gives you a rich and strong grounding in both disciplines. In international relations you will study international political theory, comparative politics, regional studies, international security, international development, and debates around globalisation. In business management you will explore management, marketing, human resources, accounting, and strategy. The combination is coherent and practical: many careers that involve international dimensions require exactly this blend of political and commercial awareness. You will develop analytical skills, the ability to engage with diverse theoretical frameworks, research and writing competences, and the practical business knowledge that employers across both the public and private sectors value. The programme equips you to think about business in its political context and about international relations in its commercial dimension. Graduates move into careers in management consultancy, international business, diplomacy, the civil service, international organisations, financial services, NGOs, trade, and a wide range of other roles that require the ability to operate across borders and understand both political and commercial dynamics. Postgraduate study in international relations, business, or public policy is a common next step.
