Law with a specialism in Energy Law is a dual qualifying degree for students who want to develop legal expertise with a particular focus on one of the most significant and rapidly evolving areas of commercial practice: the legal frameworks governing energy production, distribution, regulation, and the transition to low-carbon energy systems. At the University of Dundee, this four-year, full-time Dual Qualifying LLB provides foundations in both Scots Law and the Common Law legal tradition, giving you total flexibility to proceed towards qualifying as a lawyer in Scotland, England and Wales, or Northern Ireland, as well as many other common law jurisdictions. You will develop key transferable legal skills alongside specialist knowledge of energy law, equipping you for a legal career in private practice, the energy industry, regulatory bodies, or public institutions where energy and environmental issues intersect. The degree includes a year abroad, extending your academic and professional perspective internationally. Graduates are well placed to pursue professional legal qualification in Scotland, England, or Northern Ireland, and the energy law specialism is of particular interest to firms and organisations with practices in oil and gas, renewables, infrastructure, or energy regulation.
