BSc Marketing
About this course
Marketing is the business discipline concerned with understanding customers, developing offerings that meet their needs and communicating those offerings in ways that attract and retain them. It is simultaneously creative and analytical, requiring the ability to develop compelling ideas and campaigns alongside rigorous understanding of consumer behaviour, market research, digital analytics and business strategy. Marketing sits at the centre of how organisations connect with the people they serve, and its principles apply across every sector, from commercial businesses and charities to public bodies and social enterprises. At Anglia Ruskin University you will study for three years full-time, developing a sound understanding of the terminology, concepts, principles and techniques of marketing alongside a strong grounding in business and management. You will explore areas of particular interest to you within a curriculum that takes seriously the social, political, ethical, technological, environmental and global contexts in which contemporary marketing operates. This broader awareness distinguishes graduates who think critically about what marketing does in the world from those who simply know its tools. Marketing graduates work in brand management, digital marketing, account management, market research, advertising, public relations, content marketing, social media, communications and product management across virtually every sector of the economy. The combination of business acumen and creative communication ability that marketing develops means graduates are also attractive to general management, entrepreneurship and consultancy. Many graduates pursue professional qualifications with the Chartered Institute of Marketing, or go on to postgraduate study in marketing, digital media, brand management or business analytics. The breadth of the discipline means that career paths remain genuinely open at graduation, and the demand for effective marketing expertise is consistent across industries.
