BA Media and Creative Industries
About this course
Media and Creative Industries is a discipline that recognises the profound economic and cultural significance of the sector it studies. The creative industries, encompassing film, television, music, advertising, publishing, digital content, and the arts, are among the fastest-growing parts of the global economy, and the media that underpin and distribute creative work are undergoing continuous transformation as digital platforms displace established models. Studying this field requires the ability to analyse culture and business together, and to understand how creative ideas are developed, produced, and sustained commercially. At the University of Warwick, this three-year full-time programme is taught by world-class researchers in media and creativity alongside practitioners from the industry, giving you both academic rigour and industry insight. You will develop the multi-disciplinary skills the sector needs, including the ability to analyse cultural and media forms critically, to understand the business models and organisational structures that sustain creative work, and to develop and communicate creative ideas effectively. The programme is designed to equip you with the knowledge, skills, and adaptability to determine your own path in industries that are diverse, fast-changing, and globally distributed. Graduates go on to careers in film and television production, digital content creation, advertising, publishing, music, games, arts management, media policy, journalism, and the broader commercial creative sector. The combination of critical cultural analysis and business understanding that the programme develops is valued in organisations that need people who can think intelligently about both what they make and how it reaches its audience. Postgraduate study in media studies, creative industries, cultural policy, or arts management is a natural route for those who wish to develop their expertise further.
