You will combine academic study of the underpinning sciences with substantial supervised practice in real emergency settings, developing the technical skills, clinical reasoning, and professional judgment that the role demands. The partnership with an NHS ambulance service means that your placements give you genuine frontline experience throughout the programme. Graduation from this programme leads to eligibility for registration with the Health and Care Professions Council as a paramedic, which is the professional gateway to practising in the UK. Graduates work primarily within NHS ambulance services in emergency, urgent care, and patient transport roles, and increasingly in a wider range of settings including emergency departments, general practice, and specialist pre-hospital care teams. The degree also provides a strong foundation for postgraduate study in advanced clinical practice, critical care, or healthcare management, for those who wish to develop specialist expertise or move into leadership roles within the profession.
