BSc Psychology and Business
About this course
Psychology and business is a combination that recognises something fundamental: organisations are made up of people, and understanding how people think, feel, and behave is essential to making good business decisions. Psychology brings the scientific study of the mind and behaviour to bear on questions about motivation, decision-making, leadership, consumer choice, teamwork, and organisational culture, while business provides the strategic, financial, and operational frameworks within which those human realities play out. Together they equip you to understand organisations from the inside out. At Aston University in Birmingham, this four-year full-time programme includes a year abroad, giving you the opportunity to study at a partner institution in another country and to experience business and psychology from a different cultural perspective. Aston has a long-standing reputation for professionally oriented education, and the programme combines rigorous academic content with an awareness of how its subjects connect to real organisational life. You will study psychological science alongside core business disciplines including management, marketing, finance, and human resources, developing the analytical and interpersonal skills that employers across many sectors value. A typical entry tariff of 120 points makes the programme accessible to a broad range of students. Graduates of psychology and business programmes are well placed for careers in human resources, organisational development, market research, management consulting, consumer insights, talent management, and general management across the private, public, and voluntary sectors. The year abroad adds international experience and cultural awareness that strengthens the graduate profile significantly. Many graduates pursue professional qualifications in human resource management or occupational psychology, and some continue to postgraduate study in organisational psychology, business psychology, or business administration. The combination of analytical rigour and business acumen is genuinely distinctive in the graduate market.
