BSc Psychology with Neuroscience
About this course
Psychology with neuroscience brings together two closely related disciplines to give you a fuller picture of how the mind and brain work. Psychology examines behaviour, thought, and emotion, using experimental and theoretical methods to understand why people think and act as they do. Neuroscience investigates the biological mechanisms underlying these mental processes, exploring the structure and function of the brain and nervous system and the ways in which neural activity gives rise to perception, memory, emotion, and consciousness. Together, the two disciplines reinforce each other, providing both the experimental rigour of psychology and the biological grounding of neuroscience. At Middlesex University, this part-time programme is accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS), providing the Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership that opens routes to postgraduate training in clinical and applied psychology. The programme includes an integrated foundation year, making it accessible to students who wish to build their scientific foundations before the main degree, alongside a sandwich year with a work placement that gives you professional experience in a psychology or neuroscience-related setting. You will explore behaviour, cognition, and mental health with a depth that prepares you for a future in clinical psychology, mental health, neuroscience, research, and beyond. Graduates go on to postgraduate training in clinical, forensic, occupational, and educational psychology, as well as into research roles in neuroscience and related fields, health and social care, mental health services, human factors, and a wide range of roles requiring an evidence-based understanding of human behaviour.
