BSc Real Estate and Property Management
About this course
Real estate and property management is the discipline concerned with the valuation, acquisition, development, management, and disposal of property assets, spanning residential, commercial, retail, and industrial sectors. Property is one of the largest asset classes in the economy, and the professionals who understand how it is valued, how it generates income, and how it can be managed effectively are in demand across a wide range of organisations, from investment funds and development companies to public bodies and housing associations. At Leeds Beckett University, this part-time programme is accredited by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, meaning that it meets the educational requirements for the pathway to RICS membership, one of the most respected professional designations in the property industry. You will study property valuation, investment analysis, asset management, planning, and the legal and financial frameworks within which property transactions take place, with teaching that reflects the real-world workings of the industry. A sandwich year and year abroad are available, and work placement opportunities are built into the degree, giving you substantial practical experience alongside your academic study. Graduates from real estate and property management programmes follow careers as surveyors, valuers, asset managers, property fund managers, estate agents, and development managers. Many work in private practice surveying firms, property companies, investment funds, housing associations, and local authorities. The RICS accreditation supports progression toward chartered surveyor status, which is the professional standard in the sector. Postgraduate study in real estate, property investment, urban planning, or facilities management is available for those wanting to specialise further or move into research or senior roles.
