Animal behaviour and training is a discipline that draws on ethology, learning theory, psychology and veterinary science to understand why animals behave the way they do and how their behaviour can be shaped through evidence-based training methods. The clinical specialism focuses particularly on animals presenting with problematic or challenging behaviours, applying the science of behaviour change to address issues that affect animal welfare and the safety of both animals and the people who care for them. It is a field where a rigorous scientific foundation is essential for effective and ethical practice.
