About this course
Biomedical engineering applies engineering principles and problem-solving methods to the challenges of medicine and healthcare. It is the discipline responsible for the diagnostic technologies that doctors depend on, from imaging systems and biosensors to implantable devices and prosthetics, as well as the computational tools used to model biological systems and the materials science behind biocompatible implants and tissue engineering. Biomedical engineers need a rigorous grounding in both engineering and biological science, and the ability to apply technical knowledge to the complex, unpredictable, and ethically demanding context of human health.
