About this course

Fine art is the practice and critical study of making, asking what it means to produce visual and material objects with intention, craft, and ideas embedded in them. It is one of the oldest and most contested of human activities, and studying it at degree level means developing not only technical skill across a range of media but also the conceptual and critical thinking needed to understand what art does in the world, why it is made, and how it connects to the social, historical, and political contexts from which it emerges. A fine art degree trains you to develop your own artistic voice while situating that voice within a wider conversation about art and culture.
