Interior design is the professional practice of shaping the spaces in which people live, work, and move, creating environments that are functional, aesthetically considered, and responsive to the needs and identities of those who use them. It is a discipline that sits between architecture and decorative art, concerned with the planning and organisation of interior space, the selection and coordination of surfaces, materials, light, furniture, and fittings, and the communication of design intent through drawings, models, and presentations.
