About this course
Mathematics with data science brings together two fields that are increasingly inseparable in practice. Mathematics provides the rigorous logical and quantitative foundation, the language of proof, structure and abstraction, on which data science depends. Data science applies mathematical and statistical tools to large and complex datasets, extracting patterns, making predictions and informing decisions in fields as varied as economics, healthcare, engineering, finance and public policy. The combination prepares you to operate at the highest level in both, with the mathematical depth to understand what the algorithms are actually doing and the practical capability to apply them to real problems. At the London School of Economics this three-year, full-time programme goes well beyond technical training, situating mathematical and data science skills within the broader social science conte
