About this course

Media and communications is a degree that develops both critical understanding of how media works and practical skills for working within it. Media is no longer something that happens on television and in newspapers. It is a pervasive infrastructure of platforms, devices and formats through which people communicate, consume entertainment, access information and participate in public life. Understanding how media shapes society, who controls it, how it generates meaning and what its effects are is the analytical task of media studies. Developing the practical capabilities to create, manage and distribute media content is the vocational task that programmes like this increasingly combine with that critical foundation.
