About this course
Strength and conditioning is the science-based practice of developing athletic physical qualities, including strength, power, speed, endurance and movement efficiency, to enhance sporting performance and reduce injury risk. It draws on exercise physiology, biomechanics, anatomy and the psychology of athletic development to inform the design and delivery of training programmes for athletes at all levels, from recreational participants to elite performers. The discipline has grown significantly in professional and amateur sport as the evidence base for physical preparation has become more sophisticated and the demand for qualified practitioners has increased.
