About this course

Chemical engineering is concerned with the design, optimisation and operation of processes that transform raw materials into useful products at industrial scale. It applies the principles of chemistry, physics, biology and mathematics to develop and improve processes used in the manufacture of pharmaceuticals, food, fuels, plastics, fertilisers, textiles, semiconductors and a vast range of other products that modern life depends on. The discipline requires both deep scientific knowledge and the practical engineering judgement to design safe, efficient and economically viable processes. This five-year full-time industrial degree at the University of Leeds includes a sandwich year with a work placement, giving you extended professional experience in the chemical or process industries as part of the programme. Leeds is one of the leading universities in chemical engineering, and throughout
