About this course

Economics and finance is a combination that connects the analytical frameworks used to understand how economies work with the specific principles and methods applied to financial markets, institutions and decision-making. Economics provides the conceptual tools, from microeconomic models of behaviour to macroeconomic analysis of growth, inflation and trade, that explain how resources are allocated and how economic outcomes arise. Finance applies and extends those tools to the valuation of assets, the management of risk, the operation of financial markets and the financing decisions of businesses and governments. Together they provide a rigorous grounding in both the broader economic context and the specific financial dynamics within it.
