About this course

Economics and philosophy is a combination with deep intellectual roots. Economic theory rests on philosophical foundations, making assumptions about rationality, value, justice, and the nature of human motivation that are themselves philosophical questions. Philosophy, in turn, has long engaged with questions about markets, distribution, property, and the just organisation of economic life. Studying the two together allows you to bring philosophical rigour to economic reasoning and economic sophistication to philosophical enquiry, developing an unusually complete perspective on the ideas that shape how we understand wealth, inequality, and the allocation of resources.
