Fine art photography at the Glasgow School of Art sits at the intersection of artistic practice and critical enquiry, treating photography not as a documentary or commercial tool but as a medium for artistic expression and conceptual investigation. GSA's programme was the first of its kind in Europe to award a degree in Fine Art Photography when it was established in 1982, and it remains unusual within photographic education for offering the study of photography specifically within the context of contemporary fine art practice.
