Geography and environmental science together examine the physical and human dimensions of the world we live in, from the processes that shape landscapes and climate to the ways in which societies use, damage, and attempt to protect natural systems. Geography is uniquely placed to connect the sciences with the social sciences and humanities, asking both how the world works and how people understand and relate to their environments. Environmental science brings the rigour of natural science to questions of pollution, ecosystem function, climate change, and sustainability. Together they provide a powerful toolkit for understanding some of the most urgent challenges of the present century.
