About this course

History and education is a combination that explores both the past itself and the ways in which knowledge about the past is transmitted, contested, and used in educational contexts. History provides the analytical frameworks for understanding how societies change over time, how events are interpreted, and whose experiences are captured in the historical record. Education as a discipline examines how learning happens, how institutions are organised, and how the relationship between knowledge, power, and pedagogy shapes what is taught and why. Together, they prepare graduates both to understand the world and to contribute to the way it is explained and taught. At Keele, this three-year full-time BA explores how the past continues to shape the present, applying historical insights to urgent questions in contemporary education.
