About this course

Social and public policy sits at the heart of how governments and institutions respond to the big challenges of collective life: poverty, inequality, health, housing, welfare, education and environmental change. It is the field that examines how policies are designed, implemented and evaluated, and how political thought and public debate shape the choices societies make about how to organise themselves. Adding an international dimension and a politics strand makes the programme a genuinely comprehensive grounding in how power, ideas and institutions interact across the globe. At the London School of Economics, this three-year full-time programme is taught in one of the world's leading institutions for the social sciences.
